As this edition of Kairos goes to press, we are beginning the month of the Rosary, the month of prayer to Our Lady for the needs of the Church. The seventh of October is the Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary. This year, this annual celebration falls in the Year for Priests. And so these two themes – devotion to Our Lady and the priesthood – are brought together in our reflection today.

In the Creed we confess that the Holy Catholic Church is ‘One’. The unity of the Church extends not only throughout the world to embrace all her members in a single communion, but also extends throughout time, from the beginning at Pentecost to the consummation of all things at our Lord’s return.
