Fr Tony Kerin coordinates the Catholic Archdiocese of Melbourne supply priests for Mt Buller during the ski season. He is calling for expressions of interest from priests who have the odd winter Saturday free, an interest in people who recreate in the mountains and the desire to spend one Saturday (or more) at Mt Buller this winter.
The supply priest’s primary duty is 6.30pm Mass on Saturday evening at the Alpine Chapel. You may choose to head up to the Mountain on Friday evening, ski on Saturday, offer Mass and head on home. If you leave the mountain by 7.30pm you can be back home in Melbourne before 10.30pm. Alternatively, if you have the weekend free you may decide to stay over on Saturday night and head home at your leisure on Sunday afternoon or evening. The remuneration for saying this Mass is paid in kind, namely one night’s accommodation, free resort entry, one day ski lift pass and a meal voucher.
Mr Richard Pennington is the on mountain Chaplaincy Coordinator. He is an Anglican lay minister. By simply providing Richard with your details and your travel plans, car registration etc., he will meet you, show you around and organise to provide everything you may need such as snow chains at Buller Sports, Mansfield, resort entry pass and parking, accommodation, meal voucher, lift ticket etc.
Masses during the ski season commence on June 19, 2012 with the Queens Birthday Weekend and conclude September 29, 2011 If you have a particular weekend in mind please contact Fr Tony Kerin quickly to avoid disappointment. Tony established this chaplaincy over 10 seasons while working at the Marriage Tribunal, and is happy to offer further details and advice to interested applicants. Contact him on 0419 347 257.
