THE Halloran family recently visited Melbourne as part of the Archdiocese of Melbourne's Gracefest celebrations. They live on the Lord’s Ranch, New Mexico, and work with some of the poorest people in North America, in the city of Juarez, Mexico.

Catholic Church issues pastoral letter on Parliamentary Inquiry

THE Catholic Archbishop of Melbourne, Denis Hart, announced today that the leaders of the Catholic Church in Victoria are sending a pastoral letter to all parishes and churches this weekend on the Inquiry into the Handling of Child Abuse by Religious and other Non-Government Organisations.

ON SUNDAY 29 July, retired parish priest of the archdiocese of Melbourne, Fr Des Byrne, celebrated a Mass of thanksgiving for his 60 years in the Catholic priesthood, at St Mary Star of the Sea Church, West Melbourne. Andrew Rabel wrote this tribute to Fr Des's many years of service.
