By Laura FerraroSt Francis of Assisi Parish in Mill Park held its annual family fair on Sunday 3 April. It was a successful and enjoyable event for the whole community. The fair committee (pictured) planned the event a year ahead, discussing all the relevant issues to ensure that a wonderful fair was organised.Rides, food stalls, games, face-painting, trash'n'treasure and many other stalls ran on the day, which began at 10am and finished at 4pm after the raffle draw. Outside businesses also had the opportunity to promote their business on the day with their own stalls.Free entertainment was provided by the local dance and karate communities and the school children presented a talented ‘School Idol’, for which the judges found it very difficult to decide on a winner. All this was displayed in the centre court of the fair, where people sat comfortably in a relaxed atmosphere as they enjoyed their lunch or snack with their family and friends. Many devoured the warm fresh donuts, home-made spring rolls, lasagne, fried rice, hot chips and gourmet barbecued sausages, just to name a few of the types of food prepared and cooked by the stallholders. Many generous and dedicated parish volunteers, including school staff and parents, helped beforehand and on the day with many hours of their time. Even parish priest Fr Anthony Girolami lent a hand and was part of a big and supportive team! Many thanks are extended to all who were part of this family fair in any way. The fair committee has already begun to organise the next Family Fair, which is planned to be held on Sunday 26 March 2012.
