Melbourne Response

The Melbourne Response assists people who have been abused sexually, physically or emotionally.

Complaints

Complaints of sexual and other abuse by priests, religious and lay persons under the control of the Archbishop of Melbourne are made to and investigated by an Independent Commissioner. Mr Peter O’Callaghan QC and Mr Jeff Gleeson QC are the Independent Commissioners.

Mr O’Callaghan has advised Archbishop Hart of his decision to retire as Independent Commissioner on 31 August 2017. Mr O’Callaghan will not receive or investigate any new complaint of sexual abuse in his capacity as Independent Commissioner from 5 June. This will allow him to finalise outstanding matters before his retirement. Mr Gleeson will investigate new complaints that are received commencing on 5 June 2017.

Anyone with complaints of abuse by priests, religious and lay persons under the control of the Archbishop of Melbourne is asked to call (03) 9225 6422 and you will be referred to Mr Gleeson.
