The Assisted Reproductive Treatment Bill 2008, now before the Victorian
Parliament, includes an anti-discrimination clause that will make
assisted reproductive treatment (ART) available to single women and
homosexual couples, including via surrogacy in the cases of homosexual
men, while dispensing with provisions in the Status of Children Act
that formerly gave priority to the welfare of the child.
