Music at Our Lady of Victories Basilica

The Parish Choir sings every Sunday at the 10.00 am Mass and for major feasts and other special occasions. A cantor leads the singing at 10.00 am Mass and the Saturday Vigil Mass includes hymns and organ music. The Choir is a mixed group of men and women of all ages and the musical repertoire includes a number of settings of the Mass as well as a selection of sacred music from the 17th century to the present. New members are always welcome.

The Basilica is privileged to have one of the finest parish church organs in Australia, enhanced by the excellent acoustic properties of the building. It is a large instrument of three manuals and pedals, originally built by the Irish firm of T.W. Magahy & Son and rebuilt in 1980 by George Fincham and Sons; more recent tonal modifications were carried out by Australian Pipe Organs Pty. Ltd.

The beautiful setting of the Basilica, with its outstanding architecture and fine acoustic, also attracts performances of choral and organ music by visiting musicians.

The Organist and Director of Music is Christopher Trikilis.
