Advent Conversations

The season of Advent is a time of joy-filled anticipation — we wait in hope for the coming of Jesus-the-Emmanuel. We all know, however, that this time can also become pretty chaotic with last-minute tasks and end-of-year gatherings that can distract us from the invitation to be still and listen to God in the silence of our hearts.
In this five-part series, we hear from a range of voices on how we can make this Advent time one of thoughtful preparation. We'll reflect on scripture, looking at the 'characters' and events that unfolded in a little town of Bethlehem all those years ago. We'll hear about feasts that occur during the season such as the Immaculate Conception and Our Lady of Guadalupe; and we'll look at the liturgical preparations that happen in local parishes — from the colours of the season to the joyful music.
Guest speakers include Genevieve Bryant, Fr John Dupuche, Cathy Jenkins, Sr Rita Malavisi rsj and Fr Nicholas Pearce. Listen now or download for later.

In the Christian tradition, Advent is a time of waiting and preparation for the great feast of Christmas. Entitled "The Silent Night of Grace", this booklet is a little reminder to weave a thoughtful thread in our hearts as we prepare for Christmas. Each page contains an idea for reflection and the reflections are grouped around three themes: hope, grace and blessing.
