The Secretariat for Lay Ecclesial Ministry is committed, through the Education Bursaries program, to assist Lay Ecclesial Ministers with subsidies towards the financial costs of their study.
Applying for an Education Bursary
Bursaries are provided to financially assist Lay Ecclesial Ministers in beginning or furthering their formal theological education. Theological study is required for some grades of those seeking Accreditation as a Lay Ecclesial Minister in the Archdiocese of Melbourne but is also encouraged even once Accreditation is obtained. Applicants must be currently employed within a parish (or equivalent ministry setting) within the Archdiocese of Melbourne.
Note: Lay chaplains employed by CatholicCare Melbourne but ministering in locations outside of the Archdiocese of Melbourne are still able to apply for an Education Bursary through this fund.
Applicants are advised that there will be two rounds of bursary applications: one for each study semester.
- Applications for Round 1 are required by Friday 10 May 2019
- Applications for round 2 are required by Friday 6 September 2019
Note: Please ensure that you have read the Guidelines for Education Bursaries prior to application.
