Parish leadership

Seen and Unseen

Director's Reflection (October 2017): "At this point in the liturgical year the second reading is being drawn from Paul’s letter to the Philippians. ... It is thought that Paul is writing to the community from prison – and even from prison the author is able to encourage the people of Philippi not to worry. Perhaps we can learn from Paul’s advice to our ancestors about how to maintain a peaceful heart."

A Change of Era

Director's Reflection (September): "In November 2015, Pope Francis, in an address to a conference of the Italian Church, suggested that we are living in a change of era (rather than an era of change). An era can be defined as a period in history and I wonder if this idea of a shift in our history might help our thinking about parish and church life. The signs of this shift are all around – but living this experience can be difficult and disconcerting."
