Liturgical Ministry Formation

Liturgical Ministry Formation is an important priority for the Archbishop's Office for Evangelisation. The office seeks to provide guidance, service and support for those involved in liturgical ministry and the whole community of faith.  Liturgical Ministry Formation currently offered by the Archbishop’s Office for Evangelisation includes:

  • Themed workshops as part of the Getting it Rite Ministry formation days
  • Ministers of the Liturgical Environment (i.e. sacristans)
  • Ministers of Hospitality
  • Ministers of the Word
  • Extraordinary Ministers of Communion during Mass
  • Extraordinary Ministers of Communion to the Sick and Dying
  • Children's Liturgy of the Word workshops in collaboration with Catholic Education Office Melbourne
  • Revised Missal & Order of Mass Texts
  • Workshops for those involved in the different aspects of music ministry; cantors/singers, organists/keyboard players, choirs and music groups
  • Ministry at Christian Funerals

Courses cover various aspects of formation for worship and liturgical ministry including music, lectors, special ministers of the eucharist, leading prayer, preparing and leading children’s liturgy of the word, Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA), preparing the liturgical environment, bereavement and funeral ministry.
