School of Prayer

The purpose of the School of Prayer is to promote the practice of meditative prayer in the parishes and schools of the Archdiocese and in the homes of the people of God.

The School of Prayer is a response of the Archdiocese of Melbourne to people’s intense wish to learn to pray. It seeks to promote meditative prayer in parishes, in schools, in homes and in human hearts.

It responds to Pope John Paul’s call to communities to

"become genuine ‘schools’ of prayer, where meeting with Christ is expressed not just in imploring help but also in thanksgiving, praise, adoration, contemplation, listening and ardent devotion, until the heart truly ‘falls in love." ‘At the Beginning of the New Millennium’ (2001)
