Father Brian Salvatore Bainbridge has passed away. He died at Bennettswood Parish on Tuesday 2 February 2010.
Advising fellow priests of his death, Bishop Tomlinson said on Tuesday, "Father Brian served the Church in a very positive and pastorally enriching manner, giving fine example to both his brother priests and the community for over 43 years. The Archdiocese is most grateful for his untiring service to the Church of Melbourne."
After serving as Assistant Priest at the Parishes of West Preston, East Keilor and Blackburn, he also served as Chaplain at RMIT where he assisted with the administration of St Augustine’s Parish (Bourke Street Melbourne), and was then appointed Chaplain at the St Vincent’s Boys Home, South Melbourne. He was appointed Parish Priest of Bennettswood in 2004.
Pontifical Concelebrated Requiem Mass will be offered at St Scholastica’s Church 328 Burwood Hwy Bennetswood on Friday, 5 February at 11:00am.
A Vigil Mass for Fr Bainbridge will be offered this evening Thursday 4 February at 7:30pm at St Scholastica’s Church.
“O God, listen favourably to our prayers offered on behalf of your servant and priest, and grant that Brian, who committed himself zealously to the service of your name, may rejoice for ever in the company of your saints. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen”
