Mary MacKillop: Australia's first canonised saint

History will be made on 17 October 2010 when Mary MacKillop will become Australia's first canonised saint.

To celebrate this historic occasion, the Sisters of St Joseph and the Archdiocese of Melbourne invite all Melbournians to join a celebration on 17 October 2010, in Fitzroy where Mary MacKillop was born on 15 January 1842 – only 168 years ago.

On Saturday 6 November 2010, when pilgrims have returned from Rome, Archbishop Denis Hart will celebrate a Mass of Thanksgiving at St Patrick's Cathedral East Melbourne. There will be a ‘Welcome to Country’ and reflection on Mary MacKillop’s life and legacy commencing at 10:00am (please be seated by 9:55am). The Mass will commence at 10:30am. Refreshments will follow at Dallas Brooks Hall, 300 Albert Street, East Melbourne.
