Prime Minister John Howard was told at an emergency water summit that Australia was in the middle of its worst drought in 1000 years, the Herald Sun reports.

Mr Howard called the summit on 7 November to discuss Australia's water crisis with Victorian Premier Steve Bracks, South Australian Premier Mike Rann and New South Wales Premier Morris Iemma.
