Baptism

Baptisms are held most Sundays at 12 noon or 12.45 pm depending where Father celebrates 10.30am mass as he has two parishes he cares for.

They are held either in the Chapel or Church depending on numbers. The Chapel can accommodate 70 people. Any more will require the baptism to be held in the Church.

The Parish Secretary confirms the venue closer to the date.

There are only a maximum of 3 families at any ceremony which takes about 30 minutes.

Parents are required to attend an Information Meeting which is held on the second Tuesday of each month (except January). Bookings are essential.

Everything is explained to parents on the night and they are given a Baptism Kit to take home and a Registration Form for each child is to be filled out on the night.

At least 2 weeks prior to the Baptism, the parents and child are to attend a “Welcoming Ceremony” at one of our weekend masses (Godparents are not required to attend).

Godparents must be at least 16 years of age and at least one Godparent must be a baptised Catholic who has received Eucharist.

If families do not reside within Parish boundaries, they must contact their own Parish for a "Permission to Baptise in another Parish" letter as a courtesy. This letter is attached to the Registration Form. We warmly welcome families from other parishes provided they have permission from their Parish Priest.

Bookings for the Information Meeting, Welcoming Ceremony and Baptism must be arranged with the Parish House. Please allow 2 month’s notice for a baptism.

No meetings or baptisms are held in January.
