It is with great joy that I welcome you to this first function for the Pauline Year.

At Vespers on 28th June 2007, Pope Benedict announced a special year of jubilee to the Apostle, Paul, which will last until the Feast of Saint Peter and Paul in 2009 on the occasion of the bi-millennium of his birth.

The Office of Liturgical Celebrations of the Supreme Pontiff announced that on 29 June, the Solemnity of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul, Pope Benedict XVI will celebrate the Eucharist at 9.30 a.m. in the Vatican Basilica. The Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew I is also scheduled to participate in the ceremony.
