A nativity scene will in the City Square from 6 December.

Come and celebrate the true meaning of Christmas in the City Square at the Jesus is Christmas festival.

Each year we are reminded by the images of the baby in the Bethlehem manger that Christmas is the celebration of God's greatest gift to humanity, the gift of ultimate love, the gift of God's self through Jesus.  Christmas is the celebration of Jesus, God's Son revealed to the world.

We are now invited to be part of that mission revealing Jesus to the world through our words and actions.

Called to reveal Jesus in the City of Melbourne, we will sing words of hope and praise and show a peaceful and prayerful presence in the City Square – will you join us?

Activities will include:

  • Prayerful presence of Christians at the nativity scene in the square
  • Carol singing, traditional and those of the communities leading the singing
  • Distribution of cards bearing a message of hope, peace and joy.

An initiative of the Catholic Archdiocese of Melbourne. With thanks to the Archbishop’s Office for Evangelisation, Catholic Youth Ministry, parishes, agencies, groups and movements.
