The AOY team serves the parishes, schools and communities of the Archdiocese by providing resources that encourage young people to develop their faith and live a life centred on the teachings of Christ and the Church.
Archbishop’s Conversation with Student Leaders Held annually, this is an opportunity for Catholic secondary school leaders to hear from the Archbishop and be formed in their role as young Catholic leaders. The discussions from this day assist the Archbishop in his letter to youth at Pentecost.
Mass for Tertiary Students Held annually, this Mass is especially celebrated for all university students around Melbourne, with a chance to socialise afterwards.
Regional Youth Ministry Dinners An opportunity for youth leaders and youth minsters to enjoy dinner and a chat with other youth leaders in their region held throughout the year.
Youth Ministers Development - VCYMN The AOY works with the VCYMN (Victorian Catholic Youth Ministers Network) to present quarterly gatherings for youth ministry contacts, providing opportunities to network, share events and offer mutual support. More info
Australian Catholic Youth Ministers Convention ACYMC is held bi-annually and is an opportunity for youth ministers from across Australia to come together to share ideas, be formed and inspired in their ministry as we gather as many youth ministers as possible with the team!
Testimonies and Retreats We have staff that can do testimonies, presentations or reflections on topics such as social justice, etc. We are available free of charge to come and visit schools and parishes of the Archdiocese. Melbourne also has a resident National Evangelisation Team (NET) that is available to lead retreats and talks. NET team info Youth Leaders Retreat The AOY holds an annual Youth Leaders Retreat to allow leaders the chance to rest and renew themselves and their faith by offering them reflection and formation for a weekend without them doing the work! CulturED Café Held on a Thursday night bi-monthly (after Holy Hour at St Patrick’s), CulturED Cafe promises good food, fun, and entertainment with friends and family. After dinner, there's usually music, a talk, games or an interview. Preparation for World Youth Day 2013 A range of promotional material has been prepared to help parishes and schools promote the next WYD to their young people.
