The Crossroads pilgrimage has been put on hold for 2013 due to Melbourne hosting the first Australian Catholic Youth Festival! Crossroads will continue in 2014 and further information will be available about the 2014 program later this year.

What is Crossroads?

Crossroads is a well-earned celebration in the form of a two-week pilgrimage for Year 12 school leavers from the Melbourne Archdiocese! On Crossroads you will travel the country exploring the sacred sights of Australia whilst having the chance to do some social justice activities and also explore and deepen your Catholic faith.

Who is Crossroads for?

Crossroads is open to any Year 12 student in the Archdiocese of Melbourne who is finishing school . Be warned though, Crossroads will be a journey of discovery that is not for the fainthearted.

Who runs Crossroads?

Crossroads is run by the Archdiocesan Office for Youth, an agency of the Catholic Archdiocese of Melbourne.

How many other participants will go on Crossroads?

Numbers are dependant on the best suited applicants.

What is the date of Crossroads?

Crossroad will run in 2014.

Where does Crossroads take place in Australia?

Previously, Crossroads started and ended in Melbourne, with visits to many different places like: Casterton, Penola, Alice Springs and Uluru.

Where will the group stay?

The group’s accommodation will change from night to night; some nights we will be staying in a parish hall other nights we will be in a hostel or a motel.

What are the travel arrangements?

We will be travelling by bus!

What is an example of a daily itinerary?

This is taken from Day 3 of the pilgrimage:
7.30am    Breakfast   
9.00am    Morning mass
10.00am  A talk about Mary MacKillop
10.30am  See the Mary MacKillop heritage centre
12.00pm  Lunch   
1.00pm    Tour of the town
3.00pm    Group reflection and team activities
6.00pm    Dinner
7.30pm    Night activity

Do I need to be Catholic to go on Crossroads?

You don’t need to be Catholic but you have to be open to exploring your faith through the Catholic and Christian traditions.

What are the costs involved?

The pilgrimage costs approx. $500, inclusive of travel, accommodation, meals and more. If you think cost will be an issue for you, please contact the Archdiocesan Office for Youth to discuss sponsorship opportunities.

Crossroads is open to any year 12’s in Melbourne who are finishing school in 2014.
