Marist House Fitzroy

Marist House is a residential program for young adults who are studying at one of the many universities in and around Melbourne. Whether from the city or the country, Marist House provides young people with a safe, stable and supportive environment in which to engage with their tertiary studies. Situated in three terraced houses in Fitzroy, Marist House is ideally located for those studying at Australian Catholic University, Melbourne University, RMIT and Monash’s Parkville campus. It is within walking distance from the CBD, and easy access to public transport. Hosted by a resident community of Brothers, Marist House offers a communal setting for young people desiring to live together, open to exploring their faith and engaging in service to the wider community. It also serves as a hub for Young Marists in Melbourne.

Volunteer Opportunities - English Teachers, Youth Workers & Youth Ministers

The Cagliero Project is an initiative of the Australia-Pacific Province of the Salesians of Don Bosco, providing overseas volunteer experiences for Australians who wish to work with disadvantaged young people.

We are seeking enthusiastic volunteers for January 2018 departure. Our volunteers placements run for 6-12 months and are centered around working with young people in educational settings. We have multiple volunteers opportunities throughout Cambodia, Samoa, Zambia and the Solomon Islands.

We aim to utilise the skills and talents of our volunteers in order to provide the best possible contribution to the host community. Our aim is not to ‘help’ but to walk in solidarity with young people and for volunteer and host to have a mutual learning experience. We are also present in host communities to be role models - people that young people can aspire to be.

Cagliero volunteers commit themselves to working in the ‘Salesian way’. This means that young people are the central focus in all work. The Salesian way also means approaching life in a joyful way with a loving heart. The experience as a Cagliero volunteer is not about the volunteer, but is focused on the people we go to serve. However, serving as a Cagliero volunteer will probably be the most rewarding thing you ever do!

Capuchin Friars House for Volunteers
The Capuchin Friars are about to start a house of volunteers to assist them in their various outreach ministries. The house, in South Melbourne, would be suitable for young men (18 - 30yrs) who are working or studying and have the means to afford the minimal rent required.
This opportunity, which will begin in February, would be ideal for those who would be willing to serve the marginalised alongside the Capuchin friars whilst living in a community of like minded young people.
