Safeguarding Children and Young People Policy Framework – Information Sessions

The Professional Standards Unit is pleased to announce the launch of the updated Safeguarding Children and Young People Framework for the Catholic Archdiocese of Melbourne. The revised framework replaces the CAM Child Safety Policy and the May Our Children Flourish – Code of Conduct for Caring for Children.

Why are these changes required?
The new policy reflects recent changes to legislation arising from:

• Victorian Child Safe Standards (Commission for Children and Young People)
• Reportable Conduct Scheme (Commission for Children and Young People)
• National Catholic Safeguarding Standards (Catholic Professional Standards Limited)
• National Principles for Child Safe Organisations (Australian Human Rights Commission).

Who should attend?

The information that will be presented is designed to introduce those who are involved in the implementation of child safety policies and procedures within a Catholic Archdiocese of Melbourne parish, agency or entity to the updated framework.

The session will be most useful for:

• Parish Priests
• Agency or entity leaders
• Child Safety Officers
• Child Safety Committees
• Pastoral Associates

Facilitators

The information sessions will be facilitated by staff of the Professional Standards Unit of the Archdiocese.

How to register

The information sessions are scheduled across the Archdiocese to facilitate your attendance at a location and/date that suits you. Please register for the session that you would like to attend by selecting the link below. Please note that if you are booking in a number of people from your parish, agency or entity – you will be required to register the name of each person attending the session. The number of places in each information session are determined by the seating capacity of each venue. It is important to note that this information session is not a child safety training session.
