FAQs

When is the Australian Catholic Youth Festival?

December 8th-10th 2019. See Festival Program for a more detailed schedule.

Where is it located?
The 2019 Festival will be held at Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre, 21 Mounts Bay Road, Perth

Participation
Who can participate in the Melbourne Pilgrimage?
The Melbourne Pilgrimage is for young people who are in Year 9 (in 2019) up to the age of 30.

I am younger than Year 9 – can I come with my family?
The Festival does not permit participants younger than Year 9. If you are younger than this, we look forward to welcoming you to future festivals!

I’m older than 30 – can I still register as a participant with the Melbourne Pilgrimage?
No – however, over 30s might like to register as
▪ a Group Coordinator with their own group
▪ an Adult Leader with their own group
▪ an Encounter Expo Exhibitor with the ACYF, or
▪ apply to be a leader with the Melbourne Collective Group. Contact acyf@cam.org.au for more information

Registration
Is ACYF registration included in the Melbourne Pilgrimage?
Yes, ACYF registration is included in each of the Melbourne Pilgrimage packages. Participants in the Melbourne Pilgrimage must register through Harvest Journeys via the registration link on this website. The Melbourne Pilgrimage packages ARE NOT available through the ACYF Perth website. Registration are now open. Go to the Registrations tab HERE.

I have already registered a group, can I add another person?
If a group has already registered, they can just go into their group coordinator log in and add an extra (this could be a pilgrim, leader, chaplain etc.) bu 30 August. No changes will be permitted after this date.

What is an individual and what is a group?
The Melbourne Pilgrimage is designed to get everyone to Festival. Registrations are available for individuals who are in Year 9 in 2019 through to 30 year old. You don't need to have a group, just register as an individual and we will take care of small group leaders, first aid, chaplains and formation for you.

If you would like to come as a group that's great too. The minimum number to register as a self-managed group is four people (including leaders). By joining the Melbourne Pilgrimage as a self-managed group, you will be responsible for your pilgrims and formation.

Information for self-managed Group Coordinators can be found HERE. Resources and support will be provided by the AOY. If you have any further questions, don't hesitate to contact us.

There will be Mass options during the Sunday within the ACYF schedule - just not a full plenary option. Groups are also encouraged to consider attending a local parish Mass either Saturday night or Sunday morning as a way of engaging with the local Perth community who are eager to welcome ACYF pilgrims.

Food
Are meals included?
Most meals are included in the Melbourne Pilgrimage packages (an ACYF meal ticket for entire festival plus daily breakfasts provided at your accommodation) however meals on travel days are not. See the itineraries for more details.

What dietary requirements are catered for at ACYF?
The ACYF Food Hall is capable of fitting 3000 people within the space, and so they expect that any allergies will be catered for. When you sign up, you will be asked about specific dietary requirements, and there are four ‘standard options’, as well as ‘other’, which will be where you are able to submit your specific requirements.

Accommodation
Is accommodation included?
Yes, all accommodation is provided in the Melbourne Packages. Festival accommodation is located within a 30 minute walk of the venue.

Retreat
Is the retreat accommodation included in the price?
Yes. Though the location for the retreat will not be confirmed until after registrations have closed, the accommodation for the retreat is included in the Melbourne ACYF Pilgrimage cost.

Is the retreat compulsory?
Yes. We believe time to debrief and unpack the ACYF festival experience as a group is essential before heading back home.

Formation
What will the Formation Resources look like?
The resources which will be provided will be in a package format, with videos and worksheets available to support group discussion. It is currently estimated that self-managed groups can allocate 1-1.5 hours of formation time, multiplied by three formation sessions.
When will the Formation Resources be released to Self-Managed groups?
Formation resources will likely be released at the start of September – around the time of the close of registration for the Melbourne ACYF Pilgrimage.
