The next international WYD will be held in Panama from 22 January –
29 January 2019.
WYD offers something for everyone – from silent prayer to daily Mass,
huge concerts to inspiring cultural events. At WYD, you will discover that you
are not alone in your faith journey. While the week is lots of fun, it is
definitely a pilgrimage and not a holiday. On a WYD pilgrimage you can expect
to live simply, form new friendships, gain new perspectives on Christian life,
and experience deep encounters of faith.
The Archdiocese of Melbourne and Dioceses of Ballarat invite young
people aged 18-35 to join us on our way to WYD in Panama!
The Victorian Pilgrimage will be investing significant resources
to ensure that we provide a safe and spiritual journey to WYD. We are working
with Cosmos travel company, who have been officially appointed by the
Australian Catholic Bishops Conference to coordinate our travel arrangements.
By travelling with the Victorian group you will be spared the hassles of
trying to negotiate WYD by yourself, you will get to meet many young people
from our dioceses, and be supported by inspiring chaplains and the experienced
pilgrimage leadership team.
The 2019 Victorian pilgrimage is open to pilgrims aged 18-35. If you are
aged under 18, we encourage you to attend the next Australian Catholic Youth
Festival in Perth, December 2019!
We are encouraging all interested parish groups and movements in the
Melbourne and Ballarat dioceses to join the Victorian Pilgrimage. By travelling
with the Victorian pilgrimage you will by supported by the experienced team of
leaders, chaplains, Cosmos staff and national support.
Going to WYD is more than just being present in the host city at the
time of the event - it is about going on a pilgrimage! To get the most out of
WYD it is recommended that you join an organised pilgrimage group. This will
help you grow in your faith and form relationships with others in a community
which can continue to support you when you return home.
