ABOUT US

"I have come that you may have life and have it to the full"
John 10:10

Our mission within the Archdiocese of Melbourne is to inspire and engage young people
in the life and mission of the Catholic Church.

As articulated in Anointed and Sent, the Australian Catholic Bishop’s Conference vision for Catholic youth ministry, we will do this through initiating,
supporting and encouraging youth ministry in Catholic parishes, schools and organisations that:
  •  Fosters the personal and spiritual growth of each young person
  •  Draws young people into responsible participation in the life, mission and work of the Catholic faith community
  •  Empowers young people to live as disciples of Jesus Christ in our world today.
We support youth ministry that ministers to secondary school aged young people and young adults.

Our Patron Saints: The office is guided by the words pray, witness, serve, and we see these lived out in the lives of
Blessed Pier Giorgio Frassati and St. Mary of the Cross MacKillop.

Our guiding principles

Balance
Encourage, support and promote youth ministry that provides a balance of the eight focus areas of Anointed and Sent, which are: prayer and worship, evangelisation, catechesis, pastoral care, community life, justice and service, leadership development, and advocacy.

Responsiveness
To be responsive to the needs of young people and youth ministers in the Archdiocese of Melbourne, supporting and encouraging their work in parishes, schools or organisations through providing opportunities for training, information sharing and access to resources.

Collaboration
To work with parishes, schools and organisations within the Archdiocese of Melbourne to bring about positive experiences of the Catholic faith for young people and build a greater understanding of the role of youth ministry in their community.

Quality and Professionalism
To maintain the highest quality in the provision of services ensuring a safe environment and supporting others to do the same.
