The Australian Catholic Youth Festival officially begins!

On Thursday 7 December, thousands of pilgrims traveled from across Australia to Sydney's Olympic Park to begin the long-anticipated Australian Catholic Youth Festival for 2017.

A familiar buzz entered the arena that had remnants to World Youth day’s as well as previous Australian Catholic Youth Festivals. Bishop Fisher spoke to the young people about the festival's theme of ‘Opening horizons for spreading joy’ enthusiastically encouraging young people to say ‘yes’ and answer to God’s desires in their lives.

During the morning and evening plenary’s it was inspiring to hear and see musicians Fr Rob Galea, Steve Angrisano, and in particular internationally renowned performer Matt Maher lead 18,000 young people in praise and worship - encouraging them to lift their hands and open them up to Christ.

At the dome where all the stalls were situated for the big event, we had a great first day at our Melbourne based stall. With plenty of young people coming through, to get involved in our very well received coloring wall.

Now with day 1 officially in the books, were really excited to see what transformative experiences tomorrow will bring!
